Shadowmatch
People do not do what they intend. They do what they have practised.
Shadowmatch is a South African behavioural benchmarking system. It measures the intensity of a person’s habits, reads the relationships between them, and compares the result against a benchmark for the role or environment in question.
The method
A habit profile on its own is only half of it
Most assessments ask what you prefer. Shadowmatch looks at what has already become automatic.
How it fits
Different questions need different instruments
Shadowmatch answers one question well. It is one of a wide range of accredited instruments used here, and which one you sit depends entirely on what you are trying to decide. Often the answer is two of them.
Who it is for
Three uses, three different reads of the same profile
Individuals
- Your profile with interpretation
- Compared against the benchmark for work you are considering
- A development plan you can actually follow
- Useful when a role looked right and did not feel right
Organisations
- Benchmark a role before you recruit for it
- Analyse how a team is actually composed
- Work out who is genuinely ready for the next seat
- More on employer work
Learners
- For learners who work hard and still underperform
- A study method built on how they already work
- Career planning grounded in measured habits

The process
The questionnaire is the quick part
Stage one
Complete the profile
Done online, in your own time. No preparation and no right answers.
Stage two
Benchmark and interpret
We compare your profile against the relevant benchmark and work through what the relationships between your habits mean in practice.
Stage three
Build what matters
You leave with a plan for the specific habits that will make the most difference to the work in front of you.
Book a profile, or ask first.
Tell me what you are trying to work out and I will say whether a habit profile is the right instrument for it.
